It’s Summer… and the Studio 21 artists have an exhibition at the Well House Gallery. The exhibition is part of the Horndon-on-the-Hill Feast & Fayre running this weekend (24-25th June). The Gallery will be open throughout the weekend and seven artists will be talking about their work throughout the 2 day event.
Ross will kick start the weekend on Saturday morning with ‘Colour From Your Kitchen’. Using common ingredients from an everyday kitchen, he will discuss the use of natural dyes in his artistic practice, and how he creates beautiful colours in his work.

The images above show cotton, linen and woven, raw and habotai silk, all dyed by Ross at home from ingredients found in today’s kitchen. The eco-printed silk crepe de chine (below) was dyed with a pack of frozen summer berries and contact printed with onions and red onion skins.
