Twine at Twilight at the Chelsea Physic Garden was an ‘evening to celebrate the world of plant-based fabrics’ and formed part of the CPG’s programme of events to celebrate ‘Weaves & Leaves’, which continued throughout 2017.
The event gave visitors a huge range of different ways to experience the theme of the evening – they could get creative in a cyanotype printing or brooch embroidering workshop, create a floral head piece or learn about Piñatex™ and the amazingly robust items made from Hemp and Linen. Or they could simply stroll through the beautiful garden sipping a cocktail contemplating which fascinating exhibit to visit next.
Following the success of ‘Textile and Botany‘ at the South London Botanical Institute, and Zoe Burt‘s involvement with the CPG event, several of the artists from that show were invited to exhibit work at Twine @ Twilight.
The Advance Textile Group artists Sheila Dainow, Sue Walker, Tess Whiting, Wolfgang Woerner and Ross Belton were located in the Evolution Glasshouse (fernery) which provided the perfect environment for the Textile and Botany Installation. It gave visitors a chance to chat to the artists and discuss the work, and like the evening, proved a huge success.
